“To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.â€- Oscar Wilde

My philosophy is to provide warmth and empathy in ways to create rapport and trust in a therapeutic relationship. My style is approachable and down to earth, yet compassionately directive when needed. I believe in meeting you where you are at, building on your strengths, and giving you practical tools so that you may independently find ways to increase your coping skills. My motto is to get you in and out of a therapy as soon as possible, so that you may once again reconnect to your authentic self.

My orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT) which is empirically supported to effectively assist those with a wide variety of maladaptive behaviors such as phobias, depression, and anxiety. As CBT is short term option, it has become increasingly popular in recent years with both mental health consumers and treatment professionals. During the course of treatment, clients learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on their behavior.

Through my agency work at Vista Del Mar Family Services, and private practice work with Dr Wendy O’Connor and Associates, I have vast experiences assisting those who have faced:

Chronic Anxiety, Mood, and Psychotic Disorders
(OCD, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar, and Schizoaffective Disorder.)
Adjustment Disorders
(Recent divorce, separation, or medical issues.)
Bereavement & Relational Problems
(Through individual, family, and couple work.)
Eating Disorders
(As a long time survivor, I am passionate about offering insight that recovery is possible.)

I believe my position, as a therapist, is to partner with my clients in a safe environment that will allow resources to be uncovered and new choices to be discovered. These tools will equip them to find desired changes and/or fight their problems. Life experiences can limit what is available and by processing these experiences people can find understanding, healing and/or the ability to move on and thrive. I work with individuals, couples and families, and have a specialization in working with preteens/teens as well as persons with terminal illnesses. I offer a free phone consultation.
I aim to provide unconditional regard to each client. I do not see the client as the problem, but the problem as the problem. It is an ongoing journey that is well worth taking.
I am honored to work with people. In essence, together we are partners who collaborate for a time and explore the path, which their life has taken, and then, establish patterns so that in the future they can take their life where they want it to go.

Welcome. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and specialize in enhancing relationships, managing anxiety/social anxiety/stress/depression, parenthood, wellness, and adapting to transitions and changes in life.

I work with single adults, couples, and adolescents. I offer both short and long term therapy, depending on whether you are looking to gain clarity on a specific situation or looking to make more profound changes.

I’m passionate about being a therapist and my style is collaborative, active and results oriented. I work to assist clients to work through the issue at hand in the shortest timeframe possible. I utilize evidenced based psychotherapy practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as mindfulness and creative tools. We will use discussion and a white board to gain clarity, generate ideas and make a plan.

I have 14 years of experience in the field and have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including private practice, outpatient therapy centers, residential treatment, correctional facility, school based, and community mental health. This experience has allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the stages of human development and the challenges we all experience.
